SUSTAINABLE SHOPPING FROM THE COMFORT OF YOUR OWN BED
online second-hand marketplaces
thredUP - There are many things to love about thredUP, but one of our more favorite features about their site is their annual Resale Report with some helpful information about the second-hand fashion industry and trends in fashion and in the resale market. Some other noteworthy favorites about them is their Fashion Footprint Calculator they recently released, and how EASY they make it to resell your items online. They do the work for you!
Poshmark - Although you have to prepare and sell your own clothes on this site, as a consumer, the searching capabilities on this site are top notch. It’s easy to find the size, style, and brand you’re searching for, in the price range you want. You can also interact with the seller to ask them specifics about the garment.
eBay - An oldie, but a goodie. eBay is the OG when it comes to buying used clothes online.
The Vintage Twin - If you’re looking for a more curated collection of cool vintage clothing, this is the place for you. You may, however, spend more on clothes here than you would at say a local Salvation Army or Goodwill, but we think it’s worth supporting a small business that makes it super easy to find the clothes you want.
Tradesy - Luxury fashion lovers, this one’s for you! Not only do you get to indulge in your favorite high fashion brands, but you get to do it while preventing less waste.
DePop - A resale app for creatives who want to inspire and be inspired with other like-minded individuals.
Thrilling - This is another vintage marketplace with a beautifully curated collection. They purchase their items from small businesses across the US.
Facebook Marketplace - If you’re on a tight budget, you’d be surprised at how many people are just GIVING clothes away. Sure, you have to take everything they don’t want, but based on our experience, it’s worth it! We’ve gotten some fabulous pieces rummaging through FB Marketplace.
Etsy - Another OG in the house! This one’s not our favorite because we tend to get lost in the abyss of all that is Etsy, but it’s worth mentioning as there’s a lot of great used clothing you can find. And, some people like getting lost in the abyss… it’s not our place to keep you from things you enjoy.
Mercari - We’re not too well versed in this marketplace, but if you’re looking to buy more than just used clothes Mercari carries household items, electronics, and more.
ASOS Marketplace - A great option if you need to buy something new, too! We support buying from the same source to reduce packaging consumption.
Worn Wear by Patagonia - Patagonia’s resell marketplace that also repairs damaged clothing to sell and makes new clothes out of old clothes.
Goodwill Online - An online auction marketplace by Goodwill so you never actually have to step foot inside one.
