I was born poor, yet to recover, but I’m not troubled. The way I’ve lived has taught me to be resourceful and to find beauty in both unexpected and ordinary things.
As far back as I can remember, many of my earliest memories are attached to clothes. Like the oily texture of the polyester Little Mermaid nightgown I wore as a toddler that I can still feel against my skin when I think about it. Or like when my older sisters and I would walk around looking like fraternal triplets in the floral dresses my grandmother handmade for us, adorned with a wide-brimmed hat or bow. But the one that hones in on my affinity for fashion is in sixth grade when I’d spend my time drawing dresses for my muse, Scary Space, instead of listening to my teacher.
Fast forward several years after designing dresses for my favorite girl group members, I graduated with a B.S. in Apparel Product Development and made my way to the east coast where I practiced my trade. It was there I became hyper aware of the waste problem generated by the apparel and shoe industry, and shortly after, when I decided I would only purchase second-hand clothes from then on if I could help it.
Since 2017 I’ve been buying and receiving used clothing from stores, hand-me-downs, online marketplaces, and more to style myself and I now share my way of shopping and living with you.

How would I describe my style? Playful, eclectic, & unlimited. Most items in these photos were purchased used, handed-down to me, or owned for several years. Finding innovative ways to style and create new outfits from the clothes I’ve owned for years and spending hours sifting through thrift stores to find the piece I was looking for, are my specialties.
The mission at USED is to provide an easy way for people to be more conscious of their clothing consumption while maintaining their individuality.
